Today I wanted to talk about a very important subject, which is routine.
Routine is a very crucial element and a very important factor in the success of any individual. Routine means discipline. It means structure. It means The steps you need to follow throughout your day, your week, your month, and in your life.
If you don't have a routine you have nothing. You're basically going in the blind. You don't know where you come from and where you're going, and what's the main objective and the main goal ?
And therefore you lose focus quite easily.
Today, I was having a session with a client of mine and we spoke quite a bit about routine and how he knows everything, understands everything and has all the resources he needs but he still always fails to accomplish his goals. The only reason, Lack of routine
Now basically everybody understands the importance of routine and how routine can serve you and how a discipline can make you successful and even more fulfilled in life.
But somehow nobody actually accomplishes the goal of sticking persistently with their routine.
Now, why would that be?
The answer is quite simple. They don't have a routine for which they are intrinsically motivated. They have a routine which is hard, tough, harsh and hard to follow.
A routine doesn't necessarily mean a series of activities and chores which are really productive but very hard and boring. A good routine means a set of activities that really fulfills you, gives you enjoyment, you are excited to do them, so you line them up and make a structure out of them.
This gives you Clarity, more enjoyment & more fun. This also gives you more mindfulness. You can really focus on the task at hand rather than thinking about what you are going to do next. Because that next activity doesn't need any thinking as you have already thought it through in your routine.
This is crucial to understand because routine makes discipline and discipline makes a man.
So I would advise anybody and everybody to make a routine for their days, for their weeks and for their months and eventually thier lives. A routine that is filled with all the activities and the hobbies which they really enjoy doing. Make a list of them. And therefore you would not need a lot of motivation to follow that routine because that routine in itself would be very fulfilling.
That is one of the best strategies. To be more disciplined.
